Literacy Week 2018 – Reading for Pleasure

Each class visited the library to take part in an activity matching the teacher to their favourite books.  There were so many different books to match up!

We challenged the children to take part in an EXTREME READING competition.  We had some fantastic entries, including lots of gymnastics!  These are the winning entries:

Toby Radbourne – KS2 Winner

Maisie Edwards - KS1 Winner

Damon Malins - FS Winner

Meet the Author: Be an Author! We had a fabulous day listening to Mrs Rowley’s, story ‘Honeysuckers’, and hearing all about how it was illustrated before writing our own stories for a school book: ‘Spider Yarns’.  We also had fun hearing all about the illustration process with Ms Scrivener, and ha d a go at drawing spiders for our own book.

We even got to taste some honey!

Children were invited to come to school on Friday dressed as their favourite book character.

Teachers introduced a book to the children and they chose which story they wanted to go and listen to.

Finally, parents were invited in one afternoon to share a favourite book with the children.

It was a brilliant week!
