In Year 3, we thought about slavery for Black History Week, and the children used primary sources to try and evaluate how slaves might have felt at the time. SG1 SG8 SG10

On slavery- "It’s not nice, it’s very bad and I feel very glad that we don’t have it now" - Olive

In July 2024 we sent some pictures and descriptions of ourselves to a school in the North of Spain. Much to our excitement, we received a package on the first day back from the pupils in Spain! They sent us 66 Christmas cards written in English and decorated with our traditions. January 6th is ‘El día de los Reyes’ in Spain and is an important celebration of the 3 Kings’ arrival to visit the baby Jesus. We watched a clip of the procession through the streets of Madrid and our Year 3 children quickly drew a card of the kings to send back to our friends in Spain. We hope to hear from them again soon.

For Fairtrade Fortnight, the children thought about rights and needs and we created a display for our link area, focussing on rights and needs of children around the world. SG1, SG2, SG3, SG4

On wants and needs- "children should be able to make money, at the moment they can’t do that" - Seb

On World Book Day, we dressed up as our favourite book characters and the children celebrated some characters created in other countries, particularly The United States, with children dressing up as Dog Man

"It was good dressing up for World Book Day, other people looked different" - Archie
